Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 16 Parkland baseball won over Spoon River College (8-15) in a home conference doubleheader on Friday, March 28. The Cobras (16-7) compiled 16 hits in two games, and pitchers Gavin Parkerson and Cody DelFavero each earned wins.
 
No. 16 Parkland College 14, Spoon River College 4
The Cobras wasted no time asserting their presence at the plate, drawing multiple walks in the first inning and capitalizing on a hit-by-pitch situation to take an early 5-0 lead. Spoon River managed to close the gap in the third inning, taking advantage of an error and a key single to bring the score to 5-3. However, Parkland quickly responded in the fourth inning, adding seven more runs to make the score 12-3, and then tacking on another two in the 5th inning to win it 14-4. Micheal Carrano Jr. had two hits and Adison Worthman had three RBI to lead the Cobra offense. 

Gavin Parkerson (2 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB) pitched all five innings for the Cobras, earning the win and recording seven strikeouts. 
 
No. 16 Parkland College 15, Spoon River College 6
Parkland scored first in the second game, getting two runs in the 2nd inning after Will Applegate doubled and Matthew Carrano scored on a wild pitch. Parkland continued to capitalize on opportunities, adding five runs in the fourth inning, including an RBI single by Jax Hisle and a sacrifice fly from Adison Worthman, making it a 7-0 game. The 6th inning saw Spoon River mount a comeback attempt, scoring four runs to make it 8-6. Despite the momentum shift, Parkland responded in dominant fashion in the bottom half, plating seven runs and securing the 15-6 victory. 

Cody DelFavero (5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K) earned the win for the Cobras, and Michael Boyce (3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K) and Alec Bergman (1.2 IP, 0 H, 2 K) relieved the starting pitcher. 

Up next, the Cobras travel to Canton, Illinois, to play another doubleheader against the Snappers. The first game is scheduled for 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 29.
