Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 15 Parkland baseball won two games over John Wood Community College (20-18) on Friday, April 11. The Cobras (22-10) tallied 17 hits in the two games, led by
Mark Mennecke (2 H, 5 RBI) in the first game and
Andrew Gallegos (2 H, 3 RBI) in the second game.Â

Parkland wasted no time responding to an early 1-0 deficit, plating four runs in the bottom of the first.
Adison Worthman sparked the rally with a two-run double, followed by an RBI single from
Jayden Patel. The Cobras added another run in the 2nd inning on a solo home run to right field by
Mark Mennecke, his first of two blasts on the day. John Wood clawed back with two runs in the 4th, but Parkland's bats came alive once again in the 5th, erupting for five runs—highlighted by a grand slam from Mennecke. Parkland tacked on another run in the 6th thanks to a wild pitch, extending their lead to 11–3. The Cobras showed strong plate discipline, drawing seven walks and enduring four hit-by-pitches.

Gavin Parkerson (5.0 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 6 K), who earned the win.
Logan Gale (1 BB, 1 K) threw the final two innings and allowed no runs.Â

Parkland jumped out to an early lead, plating seven runs across the first three innings. John Wood had a big 6th inning, scoring four runs to make the score 8-5. However, the Cobras followed suit in the bottom of the inning, extending their lead to 11-5 and putting the game out of reach.Â
On the mound,
Cody DelFavero (4 H, 1 BB) earned his 5th win, allowing just one earned run over five innings and striking out six.
Alec Bergman collected the save for Parkland.Â
Up next, the Cobras play another doubleheader against John Wood on Saturday, April 12. The first game is scheduled for 12:00 pm in Quincy, Illinois.Â
