Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 17 ranked Parkland baseball team split a home doubleheader with Lewis & Clark Community College (24-22) on Tuesday, April 22. The Cobras (26-14) started off strong, out-hitting the Trailblazers 12-3 in the first game to get the win, but fell short in the second game, despite out-hitting the visitors again 7-6.Â

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 3rd, when
Will Applegate launched a solo home run to right field, igniting the offense. The Cobras continued to pile on runs for the next few innings, and an
Alex Schimmel single in the 5th inning extended the lead to 7-0. The Trailblazers got on the board in the top of the 6th, but a grand slam from
Jax Hisle in the bottom of the inning effectively sealed the game.
Adison Worthman had two hits and two RBI, and
Andrew Gallegos drew two walks.Â

Gavin Parkerson (4 IP, 1 BB, 5 K) earned the win, allowing four hits and zero runs.
Logan Gale (1 BB, 1 K) pitched two innings, surrendering one hit and two runs.

The Trailblazers jumped ahead 4-0 in the first three innings, and made it 7-1 by the 8th. The Cobras inched closer in the bottom of the 8th when
Alex Schimmel doubled and the Trailblazers walked a run in, but they were unable to get a baserunner in the bottom of the 9th, and Lewis & Clark secured the 7-4 win.
Andrew Gallegos and
Adison Worthman each had two hits in the loss.Â
Cale Coursey (4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) took the loss, throwing two innings and allowing three hits.Â
Up next, the Cobras play a road doubleheader at No. 8 Heartland Community College (31-13) on Friday, April 25. The first game is scheduled for 1:00 pm in Normal, Illinois.Â
