Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – No. 17 Parkland baseball earned a win over No. 8 Heartland Community College (34-15) after falling 10-0 in the first game of the home doubleheader on Sunday, April 27. The Cobras are 27-17 this season with three more doubleheaders remaining in the regular season.Â

The game was scoreless until the 4th inning, when the Hawks put three runs on the board. Their offense stayed relentless, tacking on additional runs in the 5th and 6th innings, and they shut down Parkland's offense. The Cobras had two hits in the loss, one from
John Shuey and another from
Will Applegate, and
Mark Mennecke drew a walk.Â

Parkland's offense exploded for seven runs in the 3rd inning, but Heartland applied the pressure in the top of the 4th by scoring five of their own. Hits from
John Shuey and
Matthew Carrano helped the Cobras extend the lead to 10-5 in the bottom of the 4th, and then they added another five in the bottom of the 6th, highlighted by a home run from
Jax Hisle. Parkland had nine hits, led by
Jax Hisle and
John Shuey with two each.Â

Jarron Thompson (2 BB, 2 K) earned the win, surrendering two hits and three runs over one inning.Â
