CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Parkland College Athletics and the Parkland College baseball program are proud to announce that three Cobras have been named to the All-Region 24 Team, two Cobras have been named to the All-Gold Glove Region 24 Team, and five Cobras have received All-MWAC recognition. The Cobras finished with a record of 33-19 this season (21-11 in conference play).Â
All-Region, Region 24 Rawlings Gold Glove Team, First Team All-Conference
Mark Mennecke, a sophomore from Naperville, Illinois, produced a batting average of .389, a .494 on-base percentage and a .681 slugging percentage. In 176 plate appearances, Mennecke hit 15 doubles (leading the Cobras in that category), three triples, and seven home runs. He tallied 56 hits and 39 RBI on the season while also drawing 26 walks. In 42 games played, he scored 54 runs and stole six bases. The outfielder finished the season with a .989 fielding percentage.Â
Region 24 Rawlings Gold Glove Team
Andrew Gallegos had 189 plate appearances, tallying 15 extra base hits – including eight doubles, two triples, and five home runs. He finished the season with a .319 batting average, a .437 on-base percentage and a .552 slugging percentage. In 37 games, the infielder totaled 202 putouts and a fielding percentage of .995.Â
All-Region and Second Team All-Conference
Adison Worthman played in 44 games for the Cobras, stealing a team-high 17 bases and scoring 42 runs. The outfielder compiled a .949 fielding percentage on the season. The Bloomington High School alum produced a .379 batting average, a .472 on-base percentage and a .593 slugging percentage. He had 55 hits, 40 RBI, and drew 10 walks. In 176 plate appearances, he hit 11 doubles, one triple, and six home runs.Â
All-Region and All-Conference Honorable Mention
Gavin Parkerson led the Cobra pitchers in wins this season with six. In 12 appearances and 55 innings pitched, he finished with an ERA of 3.11. The sophomore allowed 48 hits and 19 earned runs while walking 29 and striking out 78 (leading the Cobras in this category).Â
First Team All-Conference
Tyler Tylka, a freshman from Island Lake, Illinois, had a 4-4 pitching record this season. He finished with a 4.66 ERA in 48.1 innings pitched. Tylka allowed 41 hits and 25 earned runs while walking 23 and striking out 53 (1.32 WHIP). He recorded a .824 fielding percentage.Â
All-Conference Honorable Mention
Michael Carrano Jr. recorded a .414 batting average (leading the Cobras in this category), a .483 on-base percentage and a .657 slugging percentage this season. In 188 plate appearances, he hit nine doubles and five home runs. The sophomore finished with 41 hits, 40 RBI, and 12 walks. Defensively, he had 223 putouts and a .992 fielding percentage.
