Box Score 2 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland baseball team earned two wins over Illinois Central College (14-37) on Friday, May 2. The Cobras (30-17) mostly controlled each game, despite the Cougars battling in both.
Gavin Parkerson picked up the win in the first game, improving to 5-3 this season.
Tyler Tylka earned the win in game two, improving to 4-3, and
Andrew Gallegos hit his 5th home run of the season.Â

Parkland jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from shortstop
Will Applegate. The Cobras continued to extend their lead with runs in the 3rd and 5th innings to make the score 6-0. The Cougars got on the board in the 7th inning and added another run in the 8th, but the Cobras held on to the lead to earn the 6-3 win. Applegate led the Cobra offense with two hits and three RBI.

Gavin Parkerson (2 BB, 7 K) earned the win, surrendering two hits and zero runs in six innings.

Lane Lorton also threw for the Cobras in the win.Â

Parkland College 10, Illinois Central College 3
ICC scored in the top of the 1st, but the Cobras answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Adison Worthman started the scoring for the Cobras with a sacrifice fly to send
Jayden Patel home.
Andrew Gallegos followed up with a two-run home run, and then
John Shuey singled to make it a 4-1 game. Parkland added four more runs in the 2nd inning, but ICC started to narrow the gap briefly in the top of the 3rd when they launched a two-run home run to make the score 8–3. Parkland scored two more runs in the 5th thanks to hits from
Will Applegate and

Tyler Tylka Mike Boyce did not allow the Cougars to score another run in the final innings, and Parkland defeated the Cougars 10-3 in seven innings.Â
Andrew Gallegos had two hits and four RBI, and
John Shuey added three hits and three RBI.
Tyler Tylka (1 BB, 8 K) got the win, allowing five hits and three runs over six innings.
Mike Boyce threw one inning, giving up zero hits and striking out two.Â
Up next, the Cobras play their final regular season doubleheader at Illinois Central College on Saturday, May 3. The first game is scheduled for 12:00 pm in East Peoria, Illinois.
