The Cobras opened the scoring in the 3rd inning as
John Shuey crossed the plate on a fielder's choice, giving Parkland an early 1–0 lead. The Cougars scored two in the bottom of the 4th to go up 2-1, but the Cobras continued to battle and tied it up 2-2 in the 6th. In the 8th, Shuey scored again off a single from
Jayden Patel, and
Matthew Carrano crossed home on a hit-by-pitch situation with the bases loaded to push the score to 4–2. Pitchers
Alec Bergman and
Lane Lorton held the Cougars scoreless in the final innings to help the Cobras secure the win.

Parkland College 8, Illinois Central College 7
Parkland had a big 2nd inning, plating five runs on a few hits from
Nick Guidici and
Alex Schimmel, and a walk to
Adison Worthman. The Cougars fired back in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead to 5-3, and each team added another run in the 3rd. Parkland got up three runs in the 6th thanks to an
Alex Schimmel sacrifice fly, and despite the Cougars scoring runs in both the 6th and 7th innings, the Cobras managed to earn the 8-7 victory.Â
Jarron Thompson (3 BB, 1 K) earned the win, throwing 1.2 innings and surrendering one hit and one run.Â
Up next, the Cobras play in the Region 24 Tournament against Danville Area Community College (17-29) on Thursday, May 8. The game will be hosted at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois. The game start time is TBD.
