Garrison Wins Heartland Invitational

Parkland places multiple runners in top 40

NORMAL, Ill. — September 25, 2025 — The Parkland College women's cross country team turned in an impressive showing at the Heartland Invitational on Thursday, led by sophomore standout Aleigha Garrison, who claimed the individual title in the women's 5k race.

Garrison crossed the finish line in 18:41.7, nearly 13 seconds ahead of the second-place runner, to secure first overall. Her average mile split of 6:01 marked a notable improvement from last week's 6:11 pace at the Bradley Intercollegiate!

The Cobras also saw strong performances from the rest of their lineup, with several athletes placing in the top 40:

Parkland's depth and consistency were on display as the Cobras continue to build momentum for the season.
