No. 15 Cobras Take Two of Three in Weekend Road Swing

Parkland earns wins over Morton and Joliet, falls in tight battle at Vincennes

VINCENNES, Ind.—February 22, 2026— The No. 15 Parkland College baseball team secured two wins in a three-game weekend stretch, defeating Morton College (10-1) and Joliet Junior College (9-2) while narrowly falling to Vincennes University (11-10). With the results, Parkland is now 5-3 for the season. 

Game One: Parkland 10, Morton College 1

Parkland opened the weekend with a decisive 10-1 victory, scoring in five different innings and capitalizing on consistent offensive pressure.

Alex Schimmell and Jayden Patel each tallied 2 hits and combined for 3 RBI, while Ryan Kondrad added 2 hits and an RBI. Matthew Carrano also drove in a run, and Matt Knapcyzk scored twice. The Cobras finished with 8 hits and drew 7 walks.

On the mound, Tyler Tylka earned the win, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits over 4 innings while striking out 5. Alec Bergman followed with 3 scoreless innings, surrendering just 1 hit and striking out 2 to secure the victory.

Game Two: Parkland 10, Vincennes University 11

In a back-and-forth contest, the Cobras came up just short in a 10-11 loss to Vincennes.

Cal Hanson led the offense with 3 hits and 2 RBI, while Lincoln Cardwell and Ryan Kondrad each drove in 2 runs. Alex Schimmell scored 3 times, and Jayden Patel added a hit and a run.

Parkland collected 7 hits and drew 5 walks but was unable to overcome an early deficit. The Cobras' pitching staff combined for 9 strikeouts in the contest.

Game Three: Parkland 9, Joliet Junior College 2

The Cobras closed the weekend strong with a 9-2 win over Joliet Junior College, powered by a dominant pitching performance and a 13-hit offensive output.

Jayden Patel went 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, while Alex Schimmell drove in 3 runs. Ryan Kondrad added 2 RBI, and Nik Nelson contributed a key run-scoring hit. Matt Knapcyzk and Max Michilak also scored in the victory.

On the mound, Brodie Farrell was outstanding, tossing 4 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts while allowing just 2 hits. Logan Gale followed with 7 strikeouts across 3 innings, and the Cobras' staff combined for 20 strikeouts in the game.

With the weekend results, Parkland continues to build momentum heading into the next stretch of competition.

Up next, the Cobras will travel to Bloomington, Illinois, on February 26 to compete in the Heartland Winter Classic, where they will face No. 16 Kankakee Community College.
