RANTOUL, Ill.—March 18, 2026— The Parkland College baseball team dropped a midweek contest to No. 25 Kankakee Community College on Wednesday afternoon, falling 9-23.
With the loss, the Cobras move to 8–14 on the season.
Kankakee jumped out early, plating 6 runs in the first inning to seize momentum and put Parkland in an early hole. The Cavaliers continued to apply pressure throughout the game, finishing with 23 runs on 20 hits.
Despite the deficit, the Cobras showed offensive resilience, recording 11 hits and 9 runs. Jayden Patel led the way with a 3-for-5 performance and an RBI, while Matt Knapcyzk drove in 3 runs and added a home run. Kael Karczewski contributed 2 hits, 2 RBI, and scored a run, and Ryan Kondrad added a hit and an RBI. Blake Jenner also drove in 2 runs in the effort.
Parkland worked its way back into the game with a five-run sixth inning, but Kankakee responded with a big seventh inning to put the game out of reach.
On the mound, Chase Wells provided a steady outing in relief, allowing just 1 run over 4 innings. The Cobras' pitching staff combined for 6 strikeouts on the day.
Up next, Parkland will travel to Canton, Illinois on March 21 to take on Spoon River College.
