The Parkland College Women's Basketball team rallied from an early 22-12 deficit, but rallied and then held on for an important 76-71 win over Lewis and Clark. The Cobra victory ended the Blazers winning streak at seven and got PC back on track after losing their M-WAC opener on Saturday.
For the second straight game, PC found themselves behind early as L&C raced out to a ten point lead after the opening quarter. The Cobras slowly started to chip away at the Blazers lead and found themselves down just 34-30 at the break.
Parkland came out on fire after intermission shooting a sizzling 65% in the second half and eventually pushed their lead to double digits at 68-58 with just 3:15 remaining. Lewis and Clark had one last rally in them and cut the PC lead to just three with 11 seconds to go. The Blazers had to foul and
Ryan Dooley hit a pair of free throws with just four seconds left to seal the PC win.
Maddy Brouwer led Parkland with 21 points as she went 9-10 from the field and also grabbed 6 rebounds.
Ryan Dooley finished with 17 points and also grabbed 6 boards and handed out 4 assists.
Micah Tapscott added 15 points and 6 caroms while
Crystal Mathis had 7 points and 6 rebounds of her own.
The win improves to (14-5 1-1) while the Blazers drop to (13-4 1-1). Pakland returns to action this Saturday with a 1:00 tip-off against John Wood in Quincy. JW is just (10-12) on the season but stand 2-0 in the M-WAC.
