SPRINGFIELD, Ill.—February 25, 2026—In a highly physical, high-intensity matchup Wednesday evening, the No. 7 Parkland College women's basketball team fell to No. 10 Lincoln Land Community College, 61-74. With the loss, the Cobras move to 22-6 on the season.
Parkland came out strong in the opening quarter, building a 19-13, but Lincoln Land responded in the second and third quarters, using a 19-point third period to seize control and extend its advantage heading into the final frame.
Stacie Vonderheide led the Cobras offensively with 20 points on an efficient 9-of-14 shooting performance, including 2 three-pointers. She also added 6 rebounds and 3 steals in 39 minutes of play.
Kiarra Orphelia provided a spark off the bench with 12 points and 4 steals, while Sofia Perez contributed 10 points and 4 rebounds. Leigha Brown added 8 points and 6 rebounds, and Yohangeli Guzman chipped in 9 points along with 3 assists.
As a team, Parkland shot 40.9 percent (27-66) from the field but struggled from beyond the arc (5-22, 22.7%) and the free-throw line (2-8, 25%). The Cobras also battled on the boards, finishing with 31 total rebounds in a contest that featured heavy contact and defensive pressure throughout.
With the regular season winding down, Parkland will look to regroup quickly.
Up next, the Cobras travel to Quincy, Illinois to take on John Wood Community College on February 28. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 PM CST.
