QUINCY, Ill.—February 28, 2026—The No. 7 Parkland College women's basketball team closed out the regular season in commanding fashion Saturday afternoon, defeating John Wood Community College 89-27. With the win, the Cobras improve to 23-6 overall.
Parkland set the tone immediately, jumping out to a 29-2 lead after the first quarter and never allowing John Wood to find an offensive rhythm. The Cobras continued to apply pressure throughout the contest, forcing 29 turnovers and holding the Blazers to just 27 total points.
The offense was efficient and balanced, as Parkland shot an impressive 63.8 percent (37-58) from the field and 50 percent (5-10) from three-point range.
Siarah Brown led the Cobras with 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Stacie Vonderheide and Sofia Perez each added 14 points, with Perez knocking down both of her three-point attempts while contributing 4 assists and 4 steals.
Trinity Harden provided a strong spark off the bench with 13 points, while Chineyenwa "Nae" Ibekwe added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Leigha Brown controlled the glass with a team-high 9 rebounds to go along with 6 points.
Parkland finished with 36 total rebounds and 20 assists in a complete team performance heading into postseason play.
Up next, Parkland will host the first round of the Region 24 Tournament on March 3, taking on Kaskaskia College. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 PM CST.
