EVANSVILLE, Ill. – The Parkland women's soccer team saw their season come to an end on Saturday, dropping its Region 24 semifinal match to No. 1 seed Lewis & Clark, 7-0. The Cobras finish the season 6-10-1.
"We had a tough game today," said head coach
Tim Notz. "We tried to make some adjustments to change the game, but credit Lewis and Clark for being a strong team with a lot of quality on their side. The girls made a lot of improvements this season, so we have to reflect on that move forward."
Keeping the score close for the opening half, the Cobras only allowed the national sixth-ranked Trailblazers to score twice. However, while using a more aggressive approach in the second half, Parkland conceded five goals in the final 45 minutes of play.
The fifth seed in their region, the Cobras advanced to Saturday's semifinal with a win at No. 4 seed Kaskaskia, 4-2, on Thursday.
Ali Hosey led the team with two goals, while
Gabriela Schuster and
Mylena Do Prado combined for the other two scores.
