COTTLEVILLE, Mo. – The No. 14 Parkland men's soccer team shutout St. Charles Community College, 6-0, on Thursday after to earn its first victory of the season. The Cobras were led by two goals from freshman midfielder
Naoto Uede, while sophomore goalkeeper
Lorenzo Giaretti picked up the victory with three saves. With the win, Parkland improved to 1-0-1 on the season.
The Parkland attack was efficient throughout the match, as the Cobras needed just eight shots to record the six goals while holding St. Charles to just three shots. The six Cobra goals were spread across five different players, while four of the six goals were assisted.
"I was very happy with our efficiency," said head coach Mark
Sikora. "Everyone pitched in, which was crucial after such a grueling match yesterday and tremendous challenge ahead of us on Sunday."
Putting their opponent on its heels early, the Parkland offense broke through the Cougar back line for a pair of goals in the opening eight minutes. Freshman

Harry Messitt to get Parkland on the board in the sixth minute, and then Yu Susaki scored his second goal in as many days two minutes later to double the advantage, 2-0.

th minute as Uede tallied his second goal of the afternoon off a pass from sophomore

Earning his first victory and shutout of the season, sophomore goalie
Lorenzo Giaretti saved each of the three shots on goal by the Cougars and fended off six corner kicks.
Up next, Parkland returns to the pitch on Sunday for its third match in four days as the Cobras will face No. 7 St. Louis Community College on Sunday at 4 p.m. central time. St. Louis is 1-0 on the season after winning its season opener on Wednesday against Southwestern Illinois College.
