Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Parkland College women's basketball team closed out the Region 4 vs. 24 Challenge with a 76-23 win over Prairie State College on Sunday, November 6th. The Cobras' defense stepped up, holding the Pioneers to just 16.4% from the field, while the offense was led by freshman Mallory Cyrulik's 18 points off the bench. Parkland outrebounded Prairie State 69-24 as the team improved to 3-0 for the first time since the 2020-2021 season.

"We did a great job defensively today limiting Prairie State on their shooting," Parkland College head coach
Laura Litchfield said after her team's 3-0 start. "To have such a quick turnaround, I am very pleased with our players and their efforts to make improvements from yesterday's game."

The Cobras (3-0) got off to a hot start, opening the game on an 8-0 run, and never looked back. The Pioneers (0-2) battled back to cut the lead to four, but the Parkland defense shutout Prairie State for the rest of the first quarter, closing the period on a 16-0 run to lead 22-4 at the break. The Cobras extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 34-8 in the paint in the first half, and the team went into halftime up 41-11. Parkland's defense stayed strong at the start of the second half, holding Prairie State to just two points in the third quarter on 1-17 shooting, and the Cobras led 65-13 going into the fourth quarter. With the game no longer in question, the pace of the game slowed down in the late stages and the Cobras cruised to the 76-23 win.
