No. 20 Cobras Defeat Sauk Valley Community College 78-27

Parkland picks up its fourth win of the season

Box Score DIXON, Ill. – The No. 20 ranked Parkland College women's basketball team won its fourth straight game on Wednesday, November 9th as the Cobras took down Sauk Valley Community College on the road, 78-27. Parkland freshman Alyssa Cole led all scorers with 14 points while freshman Abby Shepard played lock down defense, recording 6 steals off the bench. The Cobras shot 45% from the field in first-year head coach Laura Litchfield's fourth career win.
 
"Huge credit to our team for bringing energy and aggressiveness from the start and staying disciplined on defense," head coach Laura Litchfield said after the win. "From there, great things happened offensively. Everyone contributed in one way or another, so it was a great team win."
 
The Cobras (4-0) struck early and often, leading the Skyhawks (0-3) 26-9 after the first quarter and extending the lead to 42-12 at halftime. Sophomore forward Shae Bell led the way for Parkland's starting five, dropping 12 points and 6 rebounds to go along with 3 assists and 4 steals. The second half was more of the same and Sauk Valley fell behind 64-15 in the third quarter, and the Cobras cruised to a 78-27 victory. Sophomore Chloe Gould (7 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists) grabbed a season-high 5 steals in the win.
