Box Score SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. – The No. 11 ranked Parkland College women's basketball team started strong on the road at South Suburban College on Tuesday, December 6th, and the Cobras led the whole way in the 80-54 win over the Bulldogs. The Cobras outrebounded South Suburban, 47-17, and held the Bulldogs to just 17% from the field in the first half on their way to a 10th straight win. Sophomore Shae Bell led the way, scoring 33 points while grabbing 10 rebounds and three steals in the win. Parkland College is off to a 10-0 start to the season, including 5-0 on the road.
"We knew we had to come out with energy and aggressive defense from the start," head coach Laura Litchfield said after the win. "The team did just that and set the tempo. Most of our scoring came from the inside, and our posts had a big game. Credit to our guards for working the ball and getting it inside. We played great team ball tonight."
The Cobras (10-0) struck first, getting out to an early lead over the Bulldogs (8-3) on Tuesday evening, and Parkland led 21-10 after the first quarter. South Suburban struggled with Parkland's defense in the second quarter, scoring just two points and the Cobras went into halftime ahead, 41-12. The Parkland offense continued to create open shots in the second half, and the team extended its lead to 68-33 by the end of the third quarter. The Cobras recorded a season-high 25 assists on 37 made shots, and Parkland put South Suburban away, winning 84-50 on the road.
