Box Score MATTOON, Ill. – The Parkland women's basketball team fell behind early and couldn't climb back in a 60-41 loss to 19th-ranked Lake Land College. The Cobras did a good job of getting to the free throw line but were outrebounded in the loss to their regional rivals.
Shaelynn Bell (8 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 7 blocks, 3 steals) had a stat-stuffing night but the Lakers got revenge for their 87-57 loss in Champaign on January 26th.
Claire Wilhour had a season-high eight points off the bench on Wednesday night.

The Cobras (18-6) trailed 10-0 after the first five minutes of the game but, thanks to some strong defense, trailed only 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Lakers (19-9) closed out the first half on a 9-2 run and led 28-14 at halftime. Both teams' offenses got in a groove in the third quarter, but the Cobras couldn't close the gap.
Naomi McDaniel hit two free throws with two seconds remaining to make it 46-31 at the end of the third. The Cobras were still in the game and Parkland cut the deficit to 14 points with 7:43 remaining in the fourth quarter, but Lake Land's three-point shooting was too much for the Cobras. The Lakers held the Cobras without a field goal in the final 3:30 of the game and Parkland lost 60-41 in Mattoon.
Naomi McDaniel (14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks) led the Cobras in scoring and
Mady Harper dished out six assists in the loss.
