No. 13 Cobras Upset No. 6 Illinois Central College 69-63

Returning All-American Naomi McDaniel led all scorers with 19 points

Box Score EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The Parkland women's basketball team got a huge road win on Monday evening, beating Illinois Central College 69-63. Returning All-American Naomi McDaniel led all scorers with 19 points, also recording five rebounds and three blocks. The Cobras move into first place in the MWAC Conference with the win over the sixth-ranked Cougars, who have now lost back-to-back conference games. Parkland has now won four straight and eight straight road games dating back to November.
 
The Cobras (15-3) (4-1) trailed early on Monday night, falling behind 7-2 in the first five minutes. The Cougars (16-8) (5-2) controlled the glass early and took a six-point, 19-13 lead in the closing seconds of the first quarter on a T'Yana Lovelace layup. Both teams traded baskets in the second quarter, but a late 11-5 Cobras run shrunk the Cougars' halftime lead to just 33-32.
 
Parkland opened the second half on a 7-0 run, to take a 39-33 lead, but ICC responded and, with 3:45 left in the quarter, retook the lead at 47-45. The Cobras shot the bell well in the third quarter (57%), but the teams were all-square at 50 going into the fourth. Neither team could carve out a lead for the first 3:30 of the fourth quarter, until Naomi McDaniel dropped eight straight points, including two and one's, to give Parkland a 62-56 lead with 3:26 remaining. From there, the Cougars couldn't fight their way back into it. Sarah Isaf (10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists) converted a key and one with eight seconds to go and the Cobras picked up a huge 69-63 conference road win.
