Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 14 Parkland College women's soccer team earned a hard-fought win over Morton College on Monday, September 12 as the Cobras defeated the Panthers 3-1 at home. Parkland took the lead late in the first half on Monday afternoon and the Cobras never looked back, picking up their fourth home win of the season thanks to three goals by three different freshmen.

"It's nice to pick up a win at home against a well-coached team before heading on the road for the next 4 matches," Parkland head coach
Dan Vogelsang explained after the game. "I am proud to see how we controlled the entire game from start to finish and never stopped. This team keeps getting better and stronger every day."

The Cobras (5-1-0) quickly knew they were in for a battle against the Panthers (1-2), as the teams fought for momentum early on. Parkland College freshman
Lauren Schnepper put the Cobras in front in the 40th minute when the Mahomet native received a pass from fellow freshman
Athenais Ouairy and fired it past the opposing keeper. Parkland's next opportunity came from the penalty spot in the second half after Ouairy was tripped in the box and
Faith Niebrugge, the leading scorer in NJCAA Division II, buried the penalty to put the Cobras on top 2-0 in the 56th minute. Ouairy extended Parkland's lead late in the second half on an assist from
Arwen Wright before Morton got one back soon after the restart. It was too little, too late, however, from the Panthers as Parkland picked up the 3-1 victory in Champaign.
