PLYMOUTH, Ind. – The No. 6 ranked Parkland College golf team secured a second-place finish at the 2023 NJCAA DII National Championship on Friday, May 26th, as the Cobras fired a final round 297 at the par-72 Swan Lake Resort. Parkland (1176, +24) came into Friday tied for second place with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (1182, +30, 5th), and the Cobras stumbled out of the gate. But a strong back nine held off late-charging Walters State Community College (1180, +28) and top-ranked South Mountain Community College (1180, +28, T3rd) to finish second, eight strokes behind National Champion Kirkwood Community College (+16). The second-place finish marks the Cobras' fifth straight top-five finish and sixth top-five finish in program history.

"I couldn't be more proud of this team," head coach
Corbin Sebens said after the final round. "We didn't have our best stuff this week and ultimately came up just short of our ultimate goal, but we still managed to bring home a second-place trophy, and that says a lot about the heart and determination these guys have."
Â
"At one point today, I think after nine holes, we were tied for fifth, and the way we responded coming down the stretch with the tournament on the line," Sebens recalled, "The way we finished was incredible to watch. These guys deserve this. They are the hardest working group I've ever had. I am sad this team will not play together anymore," he continued. "These guys truly loved one another and pulled for each other every single day, which led to success."
