CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Parkland College Athletics and the Parkland Cobras women's basketball program and proud to announce rising sophomore forward Alyssa Cole is one of 40 players selected to compete at the 15th annual NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association's All-Star/Hall of Fame Weekend. This year's event will be hosted by Clayton State University, just outside Atlanta, Georgia, from July 20-23.
 
"We are beyond proud and excited for Alyssa to be selected for this all-star weekend event," Parkland College assistant coach Bill Dobrik said. "To be chosen as one of the top 40 returning players at the junior college level is an incredible honor, and this selection further illustrates that she is in exclusive company as one of the best in the nation."
 
Alyssa Cole, from Nashville, Illinois, started 25 games this past season as a true freshman, earning NJCAA DII Third-Team All-American Honors. The 2022-23 M-WAC freshman of the year finished the season ranked eighth in the country in free throw percentage (86%) and ninth in field goal percentage (59.4%). Cole averaged 17.2 points per game (34th nationally) and 8.9 rebounds per game (57th) during the season, helping the Cobras to a 22-4 regular-season record, including 9-3 in conference play.
 
Dobrik, who will be attending the event in Morrow, Georgia, added, "Knowing Alyssa as we do, we know that she will represent our program, Parkland College, and her hometown of Nashville in an outstanding way. We look forward to supporting Alyssa and cheering her on as she makes the trip to Georgia to compete."
