Box Score CANTON, Ill. – The No. 11 Parkland College women's basketball team added another conference win on the road on Wednesday, February 21, defeating Spoon River College 87-52. The Cobras (22-3) (10-1) outpaced the Snappers (0-21) (0-11) in the first half, building an early lead, and the visitors closed out the win with a balanced attack. Five different Cobras scored in double digits, led by sophomore
Alyssa Cole (20 points, 14 rebounds).

"I love how our bench players brought the intensity on defense tonight," Parkland head coach Jean Demosthenes said after the win. "I am proud of this team for how they fight night in and night out!"

The Cobras raced out to a 47-24 lead in the first half and opened the second half on a 7-0 run to push the lead to 54-24 with 7:20 to go in the quarter. The Snappers fought back to cut the score to 58-32 with three minutes on the clock, but the Cobras closed the quarter strong and went into the fourth with a 67-36 lead. Spoon River trimmed the deficit to start the fourth, but Cole knocked down a three to put Parkland up 74-46 with 6:19 remaining, and SRC called a timeout. The visitors extended their lead out of the timeout, taking an 83-48 lead at the free throw line with 3:19 to go, and the Cobras got the 87-52 conference win on the road.
