CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Parkland College Athletics and the Parkland Cobras Women's Basketball program are proud to recognize Parkland College sophomore
Alyssa Cole surpassing 1,000 career points with the Cobras. Cole scored 24 points in a 77-66 win at Illinois Central College on Wednesday, February 28, bringing her total career points to 1,007 over 54 games for Parkland College. She becomes just the fourth woman to break 1,000 career points in Parkland Basketball history.

Following her freshman season, Cole was named to the NJCAA DII Region 24 All-Region Team, M-WAC All-Conference First Team, and the NJCAA DII All-American Third Team – while being named the M-WAC Conference Freshman of the Year. In her time at Parkland College, Alyssa has averaged 27.9 minutes, 18.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, helping the Cobras to a 47-8 record.

"Alyssa is a very special player that puts in the time in the gym," Parkland women's basketball head coach Jean Demosthenes said. "She is the first player in the gym and the last one to leave. She works on all aspects of her game when she's in the gym; she never rests."

Alyssa Cole, a sophomore from Nashville, Illinois, has started all 27 games for the Cobras so far this season, averaging 20.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, and leading Parkland to a 24-3 record, including 12-1 in conference play. Cole scored a career-high 31 points versus Millikin University JV on November 12, 2023, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing four assists in the Cobras' 90-73 win. The sophomore has also recorded 16 double-doubles this season, bringing her career total to 27.
