CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Parkland College Athletics and the Cobra Women's Soccer program are proud to announce Champaign-native Kip McDaniel as the next head coach of the Parkland College Women's Soccer team. The former High School of Saint Thomas Moore head coach brings experience coaching women's soccer at numerous levels across the country to Parkland College, including recently being named the first head coach of Junction FC, a newly formed member of the Women's Premier Soccer League and the first semi-professional soccer team in Central Illinois.
"To be head coach of the Parkland College Women's Soccer program is an incredible opportunity," McDaniel said. "Being part of a program in the community that I grew up playing in has brought everything full circle.
Kip McDaniel, from Champaign, Illinois, grew up excelling at soccer in the Champaign-Urbana area as a club member of Illinois FC, formerly the Little Illini Soccer Club, and eventually as a standout player and team captain at Champaign Central High School, where he earned Big 12 All-Conference and News-Gazette All-Area Player of the Year honors. A 2006 graduate of Illinois State University, McDaniel captained the Redbirds men's soccer team as a starting sweeper. After college, McDaniel served in numerous roles within athletics, including becoming an assistant head coach of the Denver Kickers and coaching multiple Illinois FC clubs at the under-11, under-14, and under-17 levels, with many athletes advancing to professional careers afterward.
"I have a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to the game of soccer and am excited to translate that into a winning strategy on the field," McDaniel explained. "My approach to the game begins with a positive mindset. As an athlete, I appreciate quality technique and strive to have fun every time I'm on the field."
