Box Score CHAMPAIGN, Ill.—November 1, 2025— The No. 24 Parkland College women's basketball team tipped off the 2025–26 season in strong fashion Saturday, defeating Moraine Valley Community College, 84–67. Four Cobras scored in double figures as Parkland used a dominant first half and a balanced offensive attack to secure the home-opening victory.
Shooting 6-for-10 from the field and going 5-for-6 at the free-throw line, sophomore guard Siarah Brown led all scorers with 20 points, including 3 made threes and Right behind her was freshman guard Kiarra Orphelia, who finished with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals. In 36 minutes of play, sophomore Stacie Vonderheide made an impactful contribution with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Making her Parkland debut, freshman guard Yohangeli Guzman gave a rounded out effort with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal in 28 minutes of play.Â
Parkland exploded offensively in the first quarter, outscoring the Cyclones 28–18, and extended the lead to 53–33 by halftime. Despite a slower third quarter, Parkland closed out the game with a 21-point fourth-quarter surge to seal the 17-point win.
The Cobras (1-0) will return to action on November 8, when they host Oakton College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5PM.
