NORMAL, Ill. — September 12, 2025 — No. 6 Parkland College volleyball team opened play at the Heartland Invitational in dominant fashion, sweeping both No. 11 Sauk Valley Community College (25-17, 25-9, 25-19) and John A. Logan College (25-16, 25-20, 25-16). With the victories, the Cobras improve to 19-1 on the season.
Against Sauk Valley, Parkland turned in a balanced offensive effort, hitting .229 as a team. Bella McKinney powered the attack with 12 kills on .391 hitting, while Shay McMillen added 9 kills and Hailey Warfel set the tone with 28 assists, 4 aces, and 10 digs. Natalie Alexander was strong at the net, finishing with 4 block assists to help secure the sweep.
The Cobras carried that momentum into their second match, dispatching John A. Logan in straight sets. McMillen and Alexander again led the way with 10 and 5 kills, respectively, while Sammi Christman added 4 kills and 5 block assists. Warfel tallied another 26 assists, spreading the offense effectively, while libero Anna McEwen anchored the defense with 23 digs.
Parkland closed the day with two convincing sweeps, showcasing their depth and consistency at both the net and in the back row.
The Cobras will return to action on Saturday for the final day of the Heartland Invitational, where they will face No. 24 Rock Valley College and Danville Area Community College.
