CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Parkland College Volleyball delivered a commanding performance on Sunday at the Parkland Quad, sweeping Waubonsee Community College and Rend Lake College in straight sets to improve their season record to 18-1.
In the opener, the Cobras cruised past Waubonsee 25-16, 25-12, 25-10 behind a balanced offensive attack. Shay McMillen paced the team with 13 kills, while Addie Beekman and Natalie Alexander each added 8 kills. Setter Hailey Warfel guided the offense with 33 assists to go along with 5 kills of her own. Defensively, Parkland posted 52 digs and 14 block assists, led by Alexander's 5 blocks and Beakmann's 9 digs.
Parkland carried that momentum into the second match of the day, dispatching Rend Lake 25-12, 25-18, 25-18. Shay McMillen served as the offensive workhorse, recording a team-high 29 attack attempts and finishing with 9 kills. Natalie Alexander anchored the front line with 5 kills and 5 blocks, while freshman Bella McKinney chipped in 5 kills on .444 hitting. Setter Hailey Warfel distributed 19 assists and added 3 kills, and libero Lilli Montgomery steadied the back row with 10 digs. Addie Beekman also contributed 11 digs as the Cobras controlled both the tempo and the net.
With the sweeps, the Cobras extended their home-court dominance and showcased their depth on both offense and defense. Parkland will return to action later this week when they host John Wood Community College on September 10th at 6:00PM. Â
