CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Parkland College head volleyball coach Cliff Hastings reached another historic milestone on Sunday, earning his 800th career victory as the Cobras swept Lansing Community College at the Owens Invitational. The achievement further solidifies Hastings' standing among the most successful coaches in NJCAA volleyball history.
Hastings' coaching journey has been defined by sustained excellence and championship success. Since taking the reins at Parkland, he has built one of the nation's premier programs, guiding the Cobras to back-to-back NJCAA national championships titles in 2015 and 2016, and another in 2021. His teams have also finished as national runners-up five times (2013, 2014, 2018, 2019, and 2020), consistently placing Parkland at the top of the NJCAA volleyball landscape.
This milestone is one in a series of career accomplishments. In September 2021, Hastings celebrated his 600th win, and just two years later, he was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame at his alma mater, Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School. In March of 2025, he received the NJCAA Coaches Legacy Award, recognizing his status as one of the all-time winningest coaches in NJCAA history after surpassing 700 career victories. Now, with his 800th win, Hastings continues to raise the standard of excellence for Parkland volleyball.
"Parkland College is so proud and incredibly fortunate to have Coach Hastings and his entire coaching staff leading the Cobra volleyball program," said Parkland Athletic Director Brendan McHale. "Cliff, congratulations and thank you for everything you do."Â
Beyond the numbers, Hastings' impact is felt through a culture of consistency, discipline, competitiveness, and self-discovery he has instilled in his teams. Generations of Parkland student-athletes have thrived under his leadership, competing at the highest levels of junior college volleyball and continuing their careers at four-year universities across the country.
As the Cobras extend their undefeated start to the 2025 season, Hastings' latest milestone stands as both a testament to his longevity and a reminder of the championship tradition he has built.
