NORFOLK, Neb. — September 14, 2025 — Parkland College men's soccer wrapped up a demanding weekend on the road Sunday, falling 4–1 to No. 2 Northeast Community College. The loss came less than a day after the Cobras battled No. 6 Western Iowa Tech, marking what could be called one of the toughest back-to-back stretches in the division.
Northeast jumped out to a 2–1 lead by halftime before adding two more in the second half. Gustavo Poli provided Parkland's lone goal to keep the Cobras within reach. Parkland generated eight total shots, five on frame, but just couldn't break down a stingy Northeast defense.
Head coach Mark Sikora commended his squad's resilience through the difficult weekend:
"While we always want to come out of games with a victory, this weekend was more about being challenged at the highest levels of the Division 2 level. Playing away at #6 and #2 in about 15 hours is about as difficult as it can get. I give our guys a ton of credit for holding high standards of play, fighting until the end, and always trying to push for the win."Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
The Cobras now stand at 3–4 on the season and will look to regroup as they shift back into regional play September 16th, hosting Illinois Valley Community College at 4:00PM. Â
