CHAMPAIGN, Ill.—January 24, 2026— The No. 9-ranked Parkland College women's basketball team delivered a dominant defensive performance on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 103–28 victory over Governors State University JV. With the win, the Cobras improve to 16–4 on the season.
Parkland set the tone early, jumping out to a 30–6 lead after the first quarter and never letting up. The Cobras held Governors State to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters while controlling the game on both ends of the floor.
Offensively, Parkland shot an efficient 57.8% from the field and placed four players in double figures. Yohangeli Guzman led the Cobras with 14 points, adding 7 assists and a steal. Stacie Vonderheide followed with 12 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals, while Trinity Harden chipped in 12 points off the bench. Sofia Perez added 11 points, shooting 5-for-7 from the floor.
The Cobras' depth was on full display, as ten different players scored in the win. Parkland also forced 18 steals and recorded 23 assists on 37 made field goals, showcasing ball movement and defensive pressure throughout the afternoon.
Parkland will remain at home to host John Wood Community College on January 28. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 PM.
