DANVILLE, Ill.āFebruary 11, 2026ā The No. 8-ranked Parkland College women's basketball team delivered another dominant performance Wednesday evening, defeating Danville Area Community College 87ā51 to secure its 20th win of the season. With the victory, the Cobras improve to 20ā5 overall.
Parkland showcased its depth and offensive firepower, placing five players in double figures in a balanced team effort.
Stacie Vonderheide led the charge with 20 points, setting the tone offensively. Chineyenwa "Nae" Ibekwe added 15 points, continuing her strong interior presence.
In a standout performance, Kayley Wedlow erupted for 14 points ā all in the final period ā helping the Cobras pull away decisively. Yohangeli Guzman contributed 12 points, while Sofia Perez rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points.
The Cobras controlled the tempo throughout the contest, using defensive pressure and efficient ball movement to build and maintain a commanding lead.
Head coach Jean Demosthenes credited Danville's home presence and praised his team's resilience:
"Danville consistently demonstrates exceptional performance at home, and tonight they provided us with a formidable challenge in the first half. The team's resilience was evident as they persevered through adversity, despite the ongoing health challenges we face. Overall, I am proud of their execution in the second half. We have to get ready for Lake Land on Saturday."
Parkland will return home to host Lake Land College on February 14, where the Cobras will celebrate Sophomore Day. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CST.
