No. 15 Cobras Open 2026 Season with Win in Booneville

Parkland goes 1-2 against Northeast Mississippi

BOONEVILLE, Miss.—February 13, 2026— The No. 15 Parkland College baseball team opened the 2026 season this weekend with a three-game set against Northeast Mississippi Community College, finishing 1-2 in the series.

The Cobras (1-2) showcased explosive offensive potential in their season-opening victory before dropping a pair of tightly contested games to close out the weekend.

Parkland wasted no time finding its rhythm in Game One, earning a 12-5 win behind a balanced offensive attack. The Cobras tallied 13 hits and scored in four different innings, highlighted by a six-run fourth inning that broke the game open.

Alex Schimmell led the charge, going 3-for-5 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Ryan Kondrad drove in 4 runs on 2 hits, with one being a home run. Jayden Patel and Max Michalak each added doubles. On the mound, Tyler Tylka earned the win after striking out five over three innings, with Logan Lynch closing strong by fanning six in two scoreless frames.

In Game Two, Parkland again produced 12 runs on 12 hits but fell 12-15. Matthew Carrano powered the offense with a 4-for-5 performance and 3 RBI, while Guidici drove in 4 runs. Kael Karczewski had 2 doubles and Matt Knapcyzk had a triple, helping lead the Cobras to 11 runs over the first three innings. Despite the early surge, Northeast Mississippi answered with 15 runs of its own to secure the win.

The weekend finale (Game Three) saw Parkland come up just short in a 7-8 loss. The Cobras collected 10 hits and were paced by Jayden Patel, who scored 4 runs, and Alex Schimmell, who drove in 3 from a home run. Lincoln Cardwell also contributed an RBI off a home run; Ryan Kondrad had a double. Logan Gale allowed 6 runs in 1.2 innings and Connor Hale delivered 3.2 scoreless innings in relief, striking out 4 to keep Parkland within striking distance late.

As a team, the Cobras totaled 31 runs and 35 hits across the three-game stretch, with multiple hitters recording multi-hit performances throughout the weekend.

Up next, Parkland will travel to Westfield, Indiana, to face Edison State Community College on February 17. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., with the second game set for 3:30 p.m.
