No. 15 Cobras Sweep Edison State

Parkland blanks the Chargers before erupting in Game Two

WESTFIELD, Ind.—February 17, 2026— The No. 15 Parkland College baseball team delivered an emphatic statement Tuesday afternoon, sweeping Edison State Community College in a two-game set with wins of 11-0 and 19-3.

The Cobras (3-2) combined timely hitting with dominant pitching in the opener before unleashing an offensive explosion in the nightcap.

Game One: Parkland 11, Edison State 0

Parkland set the tone early and never looked back in an 11-0 shutout victory.

After a scoreless first inning, the Cobras broke through with 6 runs in the second, added 2 more in the third, and tacked on 3 in the fourth to seal the five-inning win. Parkland totaled 11 runs on 6 hits while drawing 5 walks.

Matt Knapcyzk led the offense with a two-hit performance and 2 RBI, while Jayden Patel drove in 2 runs. Cody DelFavero and Alex Schimmell each added an RBI, and Max Michalak scored twice. Ryan Dabe recorded a double, and Matthew Carrano contributed a triple in the win.

On the mound, Brodie Farrell was sharp in 2 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 5. Tyler Tylka followed with a clean inning and 2 strikeouts, and Cade Starrick closed the door with 2 scoreless frames to complete the three-hit shutout. The Cobras' staff combined for 7  strikeouts and allowed just 2 walks.

Game Two: Parkland 19, Edison State 3

The Cobras' bats stayed hot in the second game, erupting for 19 runs in a high-scoring affair to secure the sweep. Parkland's lineup capitalized on opportunities throughout the contest, stringing together big innings to outlast the Chargers.

With the twin bill sweep, the Cobras continue to build momentum early in the 2026 campaign.

Up next, Parkland will travel to Vincennes, Indiana, for a three-game stretch February 20-21. The Cobras will face Morton College on February 20 at 6 p.m. before taking on both Vincennes University (10:30 a.m.) and Joliet Junior College (3:30 p.m.) on February 21.
