TUSCALOOSA, Ala.—March 17, 2026—The No. 17 Parkland College softball team The No. 17 Parkland College softball team closed out its extended road stretch with a split on Tuesday afternoon against Shelton State Community College. The Cobras took Game One, 4–2, before falling in the second contest, 1-5.
Game 1: Parkland 4, Shelton State Community College 2
Parkland used timely hitting and a strong pitching performance to secure the opener, scoring 3 runs in the seventh inning to pull away for the 4–2 win.
Nicole Sinks led the offense with a standout performance, going 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Lainey Klokkenga added 3 hits and an RBI, while Lucy Fearday contributed a triple as part of the Cobras' seven-hit effort.
In the circle, Fearday delivered a complete-game performance, allowing just 2 runs (none earned) on 5 hits while striking out 4 to earn the win.
Game 2: Parkland 1, Shelton State 5
In the second game, Shelton State built an early lead and held off the Cobras for the win.
Sinks provided Parkland's lone run with a solo home run, while Ava Acton and Klokkenga each recorded hits in the contest.
Klokkenga started in the circle, throwing 6 innings and allowing 5 runs while striking out 2.
With the split, Parkland finishes its road swing at 11–14 overall.
Up next, the Cobras will finally return home to host their first games of the season, a doubleheader against Danville Area Community College on March 21.
