CHAMPAIGN, Ill.—March 28, 2026—The No. 17 Parkland College softball team delivered a commanding performance on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Heartland Community College in a home doubleheader. The Cobras rolled to a 10–0 victory in Game One before erupting for a 14–0 win in Game Two, improving to 19–14 on the season.
Game 1: Parkland 10, Heartland Community College 0 (5 innings)
Parkland set the tone early in the opener, scoring in 4 consecutive innings en route to a 10–0 run-rule victory.
Lindsey Muskopf led the offensive surge, going 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs and 2 home runs. Abby Horeis added 2 RBIs, while Ellie Lowe drove in a run as part of a balanced attack that produced 10 runs on 10 hits.
In the circle, Lainey Klokkenga was dominant, allowing just one hit over 5 shutout innings while striking out one.
Game 2: Parkland 14, Heartland Community College 0 (5 innings)
The Cobras continued their offensive explosion in Game Two, tallying 17 hits in a 14–0 run-rule victory.
Parkland saw production throughout the lineup, with Lindsey Muskopf driving in 3 runs, while Ellie Lowe and Abbey Horeis each added 3 RBIs. Lainey Klokkenga contributed 2 RBIs, and Madelyn Logsdon and Ella Johnson each drove in runs in the rout.
Lucy Fearday led the pitching effort, striking out 7 across four shutout innings while allowing just one hit. Saige Althoff closed out the game to complete the combined shutout.
With the dominant sweep, Parkland improves to 19–14 overall and continues to build momentum heading into a key matchup.
Up next, the Cobras will remain at home to host No. 20 Illinois Central College in a doubleheader on April 3.
