CHAMPAIGN, Ill.—March 5, 2026—The No. 10 Parkland College women's basketball team came up just short in a dramatic Region 24 Semifinal matchup Thursday evening, falling to No. 8 Lincoln Land Community College, 59-60. With the loss, the Cobras move to 24-7 on the season and now await a potential at-large bid to the NJCAA National Tournament.
The tightly contested game remained close throughout, with Parkland holding a narrow 43-36 lead after three quarters. Lincoln Land rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Cobras 24-16 to secure the one-point victory in the final seconds.
Sofia Perez led Parkland offensively with 23 points, including 6 three-pointers, while adding 4 steals and 3 rebounds. Yohangeli Guzman contributed 10 points and a team-high 7 assists while also recording 2 steals and a block.
Kayley Wedlow provided a spark off the bench with 8 points, including 2 three-pointers, while Stacie Vonderheide added 8 rebounds and 3 steals on the defensive end.
As a team, Parkland forced 14 steals and connected on 9 three-pointers but struggled to find consistency from the field, shooting 38.5 percent overall.
