The 2016 Parkland Volleyball Team entered the season with a lot of expectations and the Cobras lived up to them, going 52-2 and repeating as NJCAA DII National Champions, the third championship in program history. In 2016, the Cobras were M-WAC Conference Champions and Region 24 Champions for the eighth year in a row, going a perfect 14-0 at home and 9-0 in conference play, and they were the first ever back-to-back National Champion in Parkland Athletics history. At the National Championship Tournament, Parkland College defeated Rhode Island College, Scottsdale Community College and Catawba Valley Community College all in straight sets en route to a rematch of the 2015 National Championship match against conference-rival Lincoln Land Community College. The Cobras completed the clean sweep, defeating the Loggers 3-0, becoming the only National Champion in Parkland Volleyball history to not drop a set at the National Championship Tournament. Seventh-year head coach Cliff Hastings was again named the M-WAC Conference and Region 24 coach of the year while his team boasted two First Team All-Americans, one Second Team All-American, three members of the NJCAA DII National Tournament Team, including back-to-back Tournament MVP Sofi Kelemete.
