Dave Rear

Dave was a star player on the Cobras 1979 and 1980 baseball teams.  He was named the most valuable player of the Eastern Illinois Athletic Conference in 1980, batting .370 as the Cobra lead-off hitter.  At the conclusion of his career at Parkland, Dave held school records in base-on-balls, runs scored, and stolen bases.  Dave continued his playing career at the University of Illinois where he had a career .310 average as the team’s lead-off hitter and center fielder.  He is still listed among the U of I leaders for single season totals in runs scored, walks, and stolen bases, and was name an All-Big 10 performer in ’81.

For the past 25 years, Dave has been in software development and consulting to the automotive industry.  He currently is a senior market area manager for MPI (Mobile Productivity, Inc.) based in Las Vegas.  Dave and his wife, Dawn, met at Parkland and have been married for 28 years and have one son, Ben.
