Lori Van Beek played for the Parkland College volleyball team during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. In 2014, along with finishing as Runners Up at the NJCAA DII National Championships, Lori was selected to the NJCAA DII All-American First Team, the Region 24 All-Region First Team, and the M-WAC All-Conference First Team. Van Beek was also named the M-WAC Conference Player of the Year and the Region 24 Player of the Year after leading the nation in hitting percentage (.483), block assists (270) and total blocks (286) and ranking 2nd in the country in total points, 5th in kills (536), 5th in blocks per set (1.71), and 20th in points per set (4.1). At the National Championship Tournament, Van Beek produced 33 kills, 24 blocks and 47.5 points, earning a selection to the 2014 NJCAA DII National Tournament Team. After Parkland, Van Beek transferred to Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio where she continued to have success on and off the court. Lori finished her career at YSU ranked 4th in program history in attack percentage (.258) and 5th in total blocks per set (1.02) while being named the Penguin’s 2016 Best Offensive Player in her senior year.
