Carl Meyer
Carl Meyer came to the University of Illinois in 1971 where he served as an assistant football coach under Bob Blackman. He stayed with the football program until 1977 when he left to work with Dale Cozad. In 1980, UI Athletic Director Neale Stoner hired Carl to direct the athletic association’s office in Chicago. Several years later Carl became associate athletic director at the University of Arizona and athletic director for the University of Cincinnati. In 1997, after being back in Champaign for several years, Carl became Executive Director of the Parkland College Foundation where he served for 16 years, retiring in 2013. During his tenure, he started several signature annual fundraising events, one of which was the Golf Outing that benefitted the Parkland Athletics Department as well as starting the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. Carl resides in Champaign with his wife of more than 50 years, Wava, and they have three children and four grandchildren.
