His impressive career record of 770 wins and 330 losses currently rank Coach Clutts as the 24th winningest coach in NJCAA softball history and gives him a career .700 winning percentage. His nineteen seasons at the helm of a Parkland College program make him the longest-serving Parkland softball coach in history, and the second-longest-serving coach, regardless of sport. During his tenure, he led the Cobras to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament eight times, finishing as National Runner-Up three times (’02, ’05, and ’06). His other national tournament finishes include 3rd (’12), 4th (’03), 5th (’04), 6th (’07), and 9th (’10). Coach Clutts led the Cobras to eight NJCAA Region 24 Championships (‘02, ‘03, ‘04, ‘05, ‘06, ‘07, ‘10, ‘12) and nine Conference Championships (‘02, ‘03, ‘04, ‘05, ‘06, ‘07, ‘10, ‘14, ‘17). His three National Runner-Up teams have all been inducted into the Parkland College Athletics Hall of Fame.

In his nineteen seasons, Coach Clutts helped many of his players achieve greatness as well. His players have earned NJCAA Division II Softball All-American status twenty times (8 First Team, 9 Second Team, 1 Third Team, 2 Honorable Mention). Eleven of his players have been inducted into the Parkland College Athletic Hall of Fame. Additionally, Coach Clutts players hold records for team batting average, individual batting average, individual strikeouts, team ERA, and individual ERA. Coach Clutts’ players excelled in the classroom also as evidence by the 51 NJCAA Division II All-Academic Team members that he coached over the years.

Coach Clutts was named NJCAA Region 24 Division II softball Coach of the Year eight times and, in 2007, received the NFCA Region Coaching Staff of the Year award. He also received conference Coach of the Year three times. Coach Clutts spent four years as an assistant coach of the Parkland women’s basketball team as well as managing Parkland Athletics’ equipment room for most of his tenure.
